Ordering from ALDI will be faster and easier
Aldi Süd and Instacart have announced the global expansion of their partnership, which will make Instacart Connected Stores technology available worldwide. The collaboration has been ongoing in the United States since 2017, where Instacart provides fast, same-day delivery to Aldi customers. Now, however, the two companies want to improve the experience by introducing a more comprehensive suite of digital solutions.
The aim of the omnichannel strategy is to provide customers with a seamless shopping experience both online and offline. Aldi Süd aims to achieve this goal by integrating the technologies of Instacart Connected Stores. In-Store mode allows customers to check inventory, select products and access current specials in real-time through the Instacart app. And the Carrot Tags system helps customers find products with pick-to-light technology: when the customer selects a product in the app, the corresponding shelf label lights up, making the search easier.
AI-based Caper Carts technology is already being tested in Austria, which uses smart shopping carts to allow customers to track the products placed in their carts in real time on a digital screen. For those who pay by card, a special “fast lane” ensures faster payment and exit from the store.
According to David McIntosh, vice president of Instacart Connected Stores, these innovations will make the shopping experience even more personalized and convenient. Instacart’s fulfillment technology will also be used to streamline Aldi’s e-commerce pickup orders, further improving the customer service experience.
