Győr's tourism outpaced the tourism of Sopron

The number of guest nights spent in Győr increased by 42 percent, while the number of guest nights declined by third in Sopron, during the first five months of the years compared to the previous year, so Győr performed better than Sopron for the first time since 1989 – wrote Kisalföld on Tuesday.

According to the article, the 130 thousands guest nights spent in Győr is mostly powered not by tourism, but the business travel segment, which seems to be ustified by the fact that the hotel occupancy rate is the highest between Tuesday and Thursday. The main reason is the expansion of the Audi factory. However, Sopron was adversely affected by the weakening of domestic leisure travel, while the city is not characterized by such growing areas as health and wellness tourism. (MTI)
