The Mediterranean tourism performs poorly
Cyprus tourism revenue fell by 15.8 percent in the first six months of 2009. compared to last year’s same period and 10.8 percent fewer tourists arrived in the island. Less tourists visited the other Mediterranean countries than in the past as well.
Tourism gives more than 10 percent of the domestic product (GDP) of Cyprus. The island had 565.8 billion euros during the first half of 2009, compared to the 671.9 million euros of the first half of 2008.
In the first six months of this year's 23.6 million foreign tourist visited Spain, 11.4 percent less than a year before. Greece and Croatia both fell by nearly 9 percent – reports ProfitLine.hu.
