Retail sales in the euro area were weak
Retail sales in the euro area were much weaker than expected in August, when consumers restrained their spending on food, alcohol and tobacco.

Euro area retail sales stagnate on an annual basis
The European Union’s statistical office (Eurostat) announced on Wednesday that seasonally adjusted data showed a 0.3 percent month-on-month increase in the 19-member eurozone and stagnant retail sales in August. Analysts expected an increase of 0.4 percent year-over-year and 0.8 percent from the previous month. (MTI)
