Poor plum yields may come in Germany

According to a recent forecast from the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the volume of domestic apple production this year will be around 937 thousand tons, which is 2 percent less than the volume harvested in 2020 – wrote agrarszektor.hu. Last year’s volume of 47,000 tons of German plum crop in 2020 was almost in line with the average of the previous ten years, but this year it will be 27 percent less, around 37,000 tons.

Germans expect weak plum harvest

According to a recent forecast from the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the volume of domestic apple production this year will be around 937 thousand tons, which is 2 percent less than the volume harvested in 2020. In Germany, the area of apple orchards is slightly less than 34 thousand hectares – according to the website of the Fruitveb Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organization and Product Council (FruitVeB).
