GVH: proceedings have been initiated against a company distributing dietary supplements due to suspicion of reseller price fixing

Simultaneously with the initiation of the case, the competition authority conducted an on-site investigation without prior notice at a total of four companies.

It was announced that the competition authority noticed that GAL had probably set minimum consumer prices applicable to its reseller partners for certain vitamin and dietary supplement products it distributed. According to the information available to the GVH, the company’s objectionable practice could have had a noticeable impact on trade between EU member states, so the GVH initiated the proceedings on a dual (Hungarian and EU) legal basis.

The GVH added: The initiation of proceedings does not mean that the undertaking has committed the infringement. The proceedings are aimed at clarifying the facts and thereby proving the alleged infringement. The period granted for the conduct of the proceedings is six months, which may be extended twice, in justified cases, by a maximum of six months each time.
