GVH: Tesco ads are not infringing
The message of Tesco's price comparison ads are that; in the Tesco always will be some product that is cheaper, than the Interspar – stated the Competition Authority (GVH) which could not find any infringement.
The Tesco published price comparison on selected variables products prices in promotional ads a newspapers, and shelf ads of the stores where compared Tesco’s and Interspar’s prices in selected items.
The Competition Authority considers that the tested behavior can not be considered as a purely comparative advertising. The price comparison is displayed as part of a broader advertising, which combines price comparisons and slogans.
According to the Competition Authority, the regularly published advertisements has the message that in the Tesco some product will always be cheaper than in the Interspar. Therefore, the Competition Authority terminated the process against Tesco, with injunction – reports Világgazdaság Online.
