GVH: The postponement of certain amendments to the Competition Act is justified
The Economic Competition Authority (GVH) agrees with the postponement of some planned amendments to the Competition Act. The president of the GVH initiated the creation of a pro-competition working group in order to conduct a wide-ranging professional consultation, in order to ensure that the guarantees that are reassuring for all stakeholders can be incorporated into the planned provisions.
On April 2, 2024, the Government submitted the bill on the amendment of laws on judicial matters, which planned to amend the LVII of 1996 on the prohibition of unfair market behavior and restriction of competition on many points. law (Tpvt.), also the competition law. The submitted bill, based on, among other things, the German model, included the introduction of a provision concerning businesses of fundamental importance, which can help the GVH to intervene quickly and efficiently in the event of competition distortion with a preventive approach.
