GVH: Notino’s price display practice is allegedly illegal
Presumably, Notino illegally displays the prices of products advertised as special offers, the Economic Competition Office (GVH) has therefore launched an investigation against the operator of the online store selling beauty care products – the GVH told MTI on Wednesday.
Systemic deficiencies on Notino’s platforms are likely to prevent consumers from being able to determine the true extent of the discounts, they wrote. The authority also objects to the fact that Notino also uses a dark pattern, and uses a pre-ticked option for environmentally friendly packaging and securing the shipment as a default setting.
The GVH highlighted that they constantly monitor compliance with the price display rules, which they inform businesses about in their informative materials. Since May 2022, traders must display their prices according to clearer rules than before, so that consumers can consider the special offers in an informed way, the announcement reads.
