GVH president: “Bureaucracy and overregulation are killing European competitiveness”
“Minimizing administrative barriers and creating a level playing field is a key condition for the spread of new technologies and the creation of competitive businesses and sectors.” – stressed Balázs Csaba Rigó, President of the Economic Competition Authority (GVH) in the panel discussion organized within the framework of the 33rd “Tusványos” Bálványos Free University and Student Camp. He added: “Trade rules that serve geopolitical interests harm the economic interests of the European Union and its member states in the long term.”
The 33rd “Tusványos” Bálványosi Free University and Student Camp will be held between July 23 and 28, 2024. In the framework of the free university, the round table discussion entitled “Competitiveness and European recession – EU presidency” was held on Thursday morning, July 25, in which Balázs Csaba Rigó, president of the GVH, also participated.
In the panel discussion, the causes of the ailing European competitiveness were examined in detail. The president of GVH explained –
“In recent years, Europe has lagged behind in the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and 5G, and this represents a significant competitiveness problem.”
“The importance of consumer and privacy-focused regulation, like the latest DMA and DSA, is unquestionable.”
Balázs Csaba Rigó pointed out.
