In a recently closed, accelerated investigation of the domestic market for coronavirus rapid tests, the national competition authority found that these products were indeed too expensive in Hungary compared to other countries, the statement said. In the final report of the investigation, the Competition Authority made several proposals to remedy the high prices of rapid tests in Hungary. These included the legal authorization to expand outlets, which could increase retail price competition and increase the geographical coverage and availability of sales. This would make it easier for the public to access the tests, the statement said. (MTI)
