GVH: supporting the SME sector is a good direction in the new artificial intelligence strategy
The renewal of the artificial intelligence (AI) strategy is in line with the proposals of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) on several points, and supporting the SME sector is a good direction – the authority told MTI on Friday.
The announcement highlighted that the GVH conducted a comprehensive market analysis in 2024 to map the effects of artificial intelligence on market competition and consumers, as a result of which the competition authority formulated several competition-supporting proposals that can be utilized in the updated AI strategy being developed by the government.
The Hungarian Competition Authority stated in its announcement that based on the results of the market analysis completed in October 2024, the spread of artificial intelligence-based solutions is expected to increase corporate efficiency, which could also result in significant GDP growth. It is important that technology can represent a breakthrough point for domestic small and medium-sized enterprises, but for this, specific support must be provided to this corporate layer – the GVH drew attention.
The national competition authority has made several proposals. Among other things, they suggest promoting the use of AI in the domestic corporate sector, focusing primarily on SMEs. This requires, among other things, developing and updating the technological knowledge of SMEs, as well as providing a competent workforce, preferably through higher education training
– they added.
They also proposed a review of the national AI strategy, with special attention to, among other things, the development and support of specialized training, the rational collaboration and coordination of AI-related research directions and the government AI strategy, and the continuous development of the appropriate IT infrastructure, including the already available but limited supercomputing capacities.
