GVH: Leading economists from the world’s competition authorities will meet in Hungary in April
Between April 23-25, the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) and the International Competition Network (ICN) will organize a professional meeting of leading economists in Hungary, which will be attended by 59 experts from 45 countries on six continents. The conference’s topics include, for example, modern cartel detection tools and the impact of artificial intelligence on market competition, the GVH told MTI on Thursday.
The announcement quoted Balázs Csaba Rigó, President of the GVH and member of the ICN Governing Board, who highlighted at the opening of the conference that competition authorities are facing new and increasingly complex challenges, for which it is essential to discuss and master the latest methodologies. Such challenges include, among others, the illegal practices experienced in the digital space, the rise of artificial intelligence, and the inflationary shocks of recent years, the expert added.
It was announced that the International Competition Network (ICN) was founded in 2001. Its aim is to be an informal forum in which competition authorities around the world can share their experiences and practices, and discuss current competition policy trends and changes. The organization currently has national competition authorities from 141 countries as members. Csaba Balázs Rigó, President of the GVH, has been a permanent member of the ICN Governing Board since 2023.
