Graboplast: focus on new developments after stable results
Despite the increasing price competition and the challenging economic environment, Graboplast achieved a stable result in 2023, after closing last year with sales revenue of HUF 20.3 billion. The leading company in the field of special floor production is already planning growth this year, which it intends to achieve with further developments and improved efficiency.
In addition to HUF 20.3 billion in sales, the Hungarian-owned Graboplast closed the year 2023 with an operating profit of HUF 191 million thanks to shrinking margins due to increasing price competition. The company, which produces in the three Hungarian cities of Győr, Kecskemét and Tatabánya, was able to offset the challenges of last year with stable operations: its after-tax result was HUF -904 million, which was mainly due to one-off profit-reducing items (high interest rates and energy prices). Graboplast Zrt.’s floors are used in nearly 100 countries, 86 percent of its sales last year came from export markets, so the conflicts raging in the main target countries and regions – Russia, Ukraine, the Middle East – adversely affected the company’s sales, and the strengthening of the forint also had a negative effect on the result.
