Fungal infection-resistant wheat and corn varieties are bred in Szeged
The experts of the Gabonakutató Nonprofit Kft. are working on the breeding of Fungal infection-resistant maize and wheat varieties in Szeged in a cooperation with a number of research institutes and agricultural companies. The 740 million HUF project is supported by the European Union.
Mesterházy Ákos, scientific director of the program told on Tuesday in Szeged at the conference presenting the results that such domesticated wheat varieties were grown that do not require chemical protection. He added that the coordination of the resistance, the production capacity and the quality are on a good path. (MTI)
