Fungal infections threaten the Earth’s wheat stocks
The global production is in danger, because of the fungal species causing wheat disease. The four newly identified mutations spread from Africa to Asia.
The Ug99, fungal disease has been identified in South Africa. The fungus was developed in Uganda in the 1998-99 years. It is spreading now for ten years. Spreading from East Africa, through the Arabian Peninsula, and Yemen, reached Iran. As the pathogen spreads in the air, there is a big chance, that new areas can quickly become infected – reports szabadfold.hu., after MTI.
