Hungarian meat industry is in nadir

In recent months, discussions have taken place continuously, because of the dramatically increasing feed prices. The association of pig farmers turned to the ministry, pushing for government intervention as soon as possible. In their view, without government intervention, the whole sector is expected to be destroyed. The situation is similar in poultry production.

The March datas of the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show that the price level of agricultural products, compared to a one year earlier was 39.6 percent higher. In particular, the price of vegetable products is higher with 57.6 percent, while animal products increased by 10.5 percent. The producer price of cereals in January 2011, was 78.2 percent higher than in the same period of last year. The increase was noticeable to consumers, such as the price of potatoes was 88.3 percent higher – reports mfor.hu.
