May contain gluten: Aldi recalls protein bar in Hungary
Aldi Hungary has recalled a popular protein bar after it was discovered that the product may contain gluten, which could pose a health risk for those with gluten sensitivity. The recall concerns BiotechUSA Pistachio Protein Bar 70 gram package, lot number 1284729, with a best before date of January 10, 2026.
According to the discount chain’s official statement, the presence of gluten cannot be ruled out in the case of the product, therefore, as a precaution and following the principles of responsible distribution, they decided to recall it. The affected lot was available in all Aldi stores in Hungary, but its sale has now been suspended.
It is important to emphasize that consuming the product may only pose a health risk for consumers with gluten sensitivity. Those who do not suffer from gluten sensitivity can safely consume the protein bar, it has the usual quality and enjoyment value.
Customers can return the recalled product to any Aldi store in Hungary and receive a refund without having to show proof of purchase.
This is not the first time a protein bar has been recalled due to gluten content. In early April, Decathlon Hungary also ordered the immediate recall of four different protein bars after it was discovered that they also contained undeclared gluten.
