Global polycrises in logistics: there are many challenges, but adaptation in the sector is constant
During May, the Hungarian Logistics Association (MLE) organized a number of professional events, including several conferences. In the diverse cavalcade of events, the actualities of logistics geopolitics, but also the innovations of the sector, came under scrutiny. There are quite a few challenges, but it seems that the actors usually adapt to the current events.
The Hungarian Logistics Association (MLE) and the Budapest University of Economics (BGE) held a joint professional conference in mid-May. The event focused on the problems and opportunities of supply chains in the light of geopolitics. The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Gábor Király, university professor, dean of BGE PSZK. The logistics sector, which has recently faced many challenges, was represented at the conference by an international teaching staff and market players.
“The assessment of the current situation should always begin with an examination of historical contexts. The geographical location of a country is a determining situation. Supply chains and joining them can lift a country out of economic captivity. The logistics sector has been hit by many disasters in the past period. Based on this, supply chains should be shortened in order to ensure their safe operability. Yet we see that quite often opposite processes take place”
said Dr. Zoltán Doór, president of the Hungarian Logistics Association (MLE).
