According to the latest annual report by Euler Hermes, the number of bankruptcies rose by 5 per cent in 2007 and remained below the level seen in 2005 and before. While the number of bankruptcies shows a substantial increase in the US, the picture in the EU is quite diverse. Growth is slowing down in Germany, France and Italy, but the UK, Spain and Ireland are still doing well. Bankruptcies in China and India are still rare.
