Glattfelder: the government is looking for an opportunity to maintain the production of tobacco
The government is looking for an opportunity to maintain the Hungarian tobacco production among the European Union’s circumstances, in order to preserve the jobs of 20 thousand people – Glattfelder Béla, Minister of State of the National Economy Ministry, told on Tuesday, in Ófehértó, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, where the producers and processors have signed an agreement to promote the maintaining of the sector.
Bényei Illés, president of the Hungarian Tobacco Growers' Association (MADOSZ) said before the signing that from the next year, the union will no longer offer 22.4 million euros restructuring aid to the industry, and if this amount can not be make up from domestic sources, the tobacco production can be ended in Hungary.
