GKI’s economic confidence index approaches a record level again
In November GKI’s economic confidence index neared its historic peak of September. In the business sphere the industry was the only segment where the confidence index didn’t rise. Willingness to invest in the next year is greater than it was this year. After the stagnation in October, the confidence index increased a little in November and approached the former record; the same is true for the services sector.
However, employment expectations worsened in every sector – with the exception of services – and people are also a bit more afraid of losing their job. Every sector intends to increase prices and consumers calculate with inflation. In November businesses opined that the economic situation was better than in October, but consumers thought that it was a bit worse. GKI’s consumer confidence index dropped a little in November (about as much as it elevated in October). //
