GFM: the logistics park title competition has started
The Logistics Park Title Competition has become available on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development (GFM), in which logistics parks can obtain certification as intermodal logistics park, regional logistics park or local logistics park.
Gergely Fábián, the state secretary responsible for industrial policy and technology, highlighted in the GFM’s statement on Thursday that the goal of the new qualification system created by the government is to create a unified regulation, qualification and control system, in which investments in the logistics service sector are realized within a coordinated framework and more efficiently. The sector currently produces 5 percent of GDP, the government’s goal is to increase this to 10 percent, which can further strengthen the Hungarian economy’s role as a bridge connecting macro-regions.
According to the new rules adopted in the spring, service units operating in the logistics sector can obtain the title of Logistics Park by December 31, 2024, failing which they cannot continue their logistics activities after the deadline. Based on the applications submitted, the Science and Innovation, Technology, Industry and Logistics Park Council makes a proposal for awarding the title, which is decided by the Minister of Economic Development responsible for industrial affairs.
