GfK: consumption has stagnated in the first half of the year
The first half of this year was characterized by the stagnation of the economy and consumption. Further rationalization of the purchasing behavior can be detected in many areas. The purchasing ratio of own branded products rising again in almost every channels – shows the Trade Analyses study of the Consumer Panel Services business branch of GfK Hungária.
The Hungarian household spending on food and household chemical goods were nearly 1,330 billion HUF in the first half of 2012, which is a half percent increase, but it virtually remained stagnant, compared to the same period of a year earlier. Food prices in the same period rose by nearly 6 percent, so it means a decrease in the purchased quantity.
