The German Testbiotech Institute protests against the licensing of GM maize
The Munich-based Testbiotech Institute called on the Commission to reconsider the marketing permission of a genetically modified maize variety.
According to the German Institute; the EU announced the licensing of the MON 89034 × MON 88017 maize varieties on June 17, but it was almost unnoticed to the public. The European Union approved that Monsanto's genetically modified corn is used to produce food and feed, while according to Testbiotech; the potential consequences of the use of crops were not properly investigated – reports Világgazdaság Online, after AFP.
