Generational change is taking place in the Hungarian agriculture
More than two hundred people participated at the events of the Young Agricultural Professionals' Club, that were organized by Syngenta and were held in Balatonszárszó, Kecskemét and Hajdúszoboszló in recent days. The farmers between 20-40 years of age could also share their experiences there.
A generational change is taking place in the Hungarian agriculture – Heicz Péter, Syngenta's business development manager said. Sixty percent of the farmers over 60 years will retire in a short time, and young farmers will take over their place.
According to the 2013 datas, a total of 8.4 thousand agricultural enterprises and 485 thousand private farms carried out agricultural activities. According to the datas of KSH, 31 percent of the farmers is over 65 years, while their average age is 56 years.
