Due to the persistent cold weather, many animal shelters nationwide are facing a problem of how to ensure the most suitable conditions for the animals living there. Straw is also suitable for keeping homeless animals warm in shelters even in the freezing, record cold weather. Regarding this problem, Péter Ovádi, the government commissioner responsible for the development and implementation of the animal protection action plan, met with Zsolt Papp, the president of the National Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce (NAK).

The chamber, which has a national network and is in direct contact with farmers, immediately inquired from farmers whether they had the opportunity to offer straw to shelters

Several donations have already been received in just one day, and the chamber is coordinating with the government commission responsible for animal protection, which also assesses the needs, and the Our Common Cause is Animal Protection Foundation, to ensure that the donations reach the affected shelters as soon as possible. Animal protection is our common cause, and Hungarian farmers have repeatedly demonstrated their selflessness and the power of their solidarity. This case is no different: the farmers are helping this time too, contributing to the proper care of the small animals in the shelters.
