Asda–Sainsbury’s merger
The merger of Sainsbury’s and Asda (a supermarket chain owned by Walmart UK) will establish the biggest retail chain of the United Kingdom. The two companies will keep their names and plan to reduce product prices. Combined sales of the two retailers amounted to GBP 51 billion in 2017.
