FruitVeb: it is expected that 700-750 thousand tons of apples to be grown this year
Hungarian producers expect to harvest 700-750 thousand tons of apples this year, which is 20-30 percent more than the previous year’s harvest – Domján Erika, managing director of the FruitVeb Hungarian Vegetables and Fruit Interprofessional and Product Council told M1 news channel on Friday.
According to the expert, the good result is due to the weather, since the precipitation distribution was fairly balanced until mid-July.
At the same time, she pointed out that the current extreme warmth causes problems, especially in areas where there is no irrigation. In Hungary, only about 30 percent of the production areas can be irrigated. (MTI)
