Fruitveb: this year’s nut crop may be a medium
Like last year, a medium amount of about 7-7,500 tons of nuts can be produced in the country – the vice president of FruitVeB Hungarian Interprofessional Organization and Product Council said, adding that the price walnut kernel is 10-15 percent above the average of the previous years.
Apáti Ferenc explained that the weather was good for the farmers and the harvest was uninterrupted and he said the quality was good.
He emphasized that the walnut borer was damaging the yield of the plantations only in Transdanubia, where a significant part of the walnut comes from. (MTI)
