FruitVeB: frost damages are smaller than initially seemed
The damage caused by the frost is smaller, than it was expected, however, the Hungarian fruit growers can expect worse year than last year in terms of the value of the goods – was said at the meeting of FruitVeB, Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Marketing Board interprofessional organization on Thursday, in Gárdony.
Mártonffy Béla, president of the organization stated, “It seems that the situation after the frost looks a little bit better.” Last year, especially apples were damaged, this year much more valuable varieties of fruit (apricots, cherries, peaches) froze almost completely. In terms of volume, loss will be less than last year, but in case of value, a worse year is expected. (MTI)
