FruitVeb: rain was good for the horticulture and the orchards
The rainfall of the past two days was good for the agriculture and the orchards. The rain partially replaced the lack of moisture in the soil, while snow caused only minor damages as the temperature did not drop below 0 Celsius degrees – Ledó Ferenc, President of the Hungarian Fruit & Vegetables Association (FruitVeB) told MTI on Thursday.
In the country, about 30 to 60 millimeters fell in 2-3 days which was highly needed in horticulture and orchards, as 80 to 100 millimeters of water was missing from the soil. In the past few days, a sufficient amount for 3-4 weeks has fallen, he added. (MTI)
