FruitVeB: producers can harvest more greenhouse vegetables this year
This year, producers will harvest more greenhouse vegetables this year from smaller production areas – according to the President of the Hungarian Vegetable and Fruit Interprofessional Organization and Product Council (FruitVeB).
Ledó Ferenc told MTI that 3700-3800 hectares of vegetables were grown in greenhouses in the country last year. The production area is estimated to decline to 3600 hectares this year. Last year, producers harvested 440,000 tons of greenhouse-grown vegetables, whereas this year, thanks to the technological developments 450-460,000 tons of crops are expected. (MTI)
