FruitVeB: less and less raspberries grow every year
Hungarian raspberry production is decreasing year after year. This year less than a thousand tons of raspberries will be harvested from 200 hectares of cultivated land, only half of which has acceptable quality – the Vice President of the Hungarian Vegetables and Fruit Association and Product Council (FruitVeB) told.
Apáti Ferenc told MTI that in the 1980’s 25-30 thousand tons of raspberries were produced on about 7 thousand hectares. This shrank to about 1,500 hectares and 10 to 15,000 tonnes for the millennium, and since then the production area has further declined. (MTI)
