FruitVeB: the spring frost hit apricot the most
The spring frost has been damaging the apricot to the greatest extent, and it is estimated that due to the significant sprout damages, only relatively weak yields of between 10 and 20 thousand tons can be expected this year.
Apáti Ferenc the chairman of the fruit committee of the FruitVeb Hungarian Vegetables and Fruit Interprofessional Organization and Product Council told MTI that in previous years 40,000 tons of apricot yields were achieved, but in 2012, for example, due to the spring frost damages only 10,000 tons were harvested.
