The unusual warmth has not damaged the orchards yet
The unusually warm weather in December and January has not been damaged the orchards yet, the buds are having a rest – Mártonffy Béla, president of the Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organisation (FruitVeB) told on Tuesday at the request of MTI.
He added, however, a longer heat wave represents a high risk, because the buds of fruit trees may swell and a subsequent cooling can cause serious damages.
He added, that in a few days it will be revealed how much the temperature will change, and professionals are hoping, that very cold weather will not come suddenly, because the plants can be shocked. (MTI)
