FruitVeB: special attention has to be paid to the protection of vegetables and orchards due to the rainy weather

The amount of rain that has fallen in the previous days has been good for both vegetables and fruits, and helped their growth, but the cool and rainy weather favors the proliferation of fungal diseases, so farmers should pay particular attention to plant protection – Domján Erika, Managing Director of the FruitVeb Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organization told M1 news channel on Tuesday. According to the Association of Cereal Producers, the precipitation is also hindered by chemical weed control.

Fungal diseases can cause problems especially in strawberries, cherries and apples if the producers are unable to take preventive measures. It cannot be sprayed in the rain or weed control can not be done on excessively wet soil. (MTI)
