FRUIT LOGISTICA 2025: The exhibition awaits visitors with numerous innovations
Representatives of the international fruit and vegetable trade will meet again in Berlin in 2025. Exhibitors will offer solutions to key issues such as energy shortages, climate change and the shortage of skilled workers. Trade visitors can already get an overview of the innovations that will be on display at the event in 2025.
The increasing importance of artificial intelligence in ripening, sorting and grading processes
A number of innovations in the field of sorting and ripening technology show that artificial intelligence is also becoming increasingly important in the fruit trade. Ripe Wise, Experience Fruit Quality and De Laat Koudetechniek are presenting a data and AI-based solution that aims to make the ripening process of avocados, mangoes, bananas and other fruits more sustainable and efficient. It checks whether the fruits are perfectly ripe, reduces the time required for inspections and thus makes the processes more efficient.
Raytec Vision uses artificial intelligence in sorting. With the help of Opportunity, the company developed an optical sorter for sorting peeled tomatoes and potatoes. State-of-the-art AI algorithms combined with high-resolution optical sensors enable the precise identification and rejection of defective or unwanted items.
Innovative packaging
Recyclable packaging solutions are also a major topic at FRUIT LOGISTICA. New products such as the SMP LifeBag plastic bag are made from biodegradable, compostable materials. They can be recycled and can extend the shelf life of food.
Instead of a lid, the Carton Pack Smilesys® BK-70+ film safely protects the contents of the package. It can be resealed multiple times, making it suitable for packaging healthy snacks such as blueberries.
