Inflation slowed down in France in July
For the first time since February last year, annual inflation in Romania slowed down to single digits again in July: according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Friday, consumer prices were 9.4 percent higher last month than a year earlier.
Food prices increased the most, by an average of 16.24 percent, while non-food products rose by 4.25 percent and services by 11.65 percent.
Compared to July last year, the price of sugar rose the most, by 52 percent. Potatoes went up by 37 percent, eggs by 28 percent, margarine by 26 percent, and butter and cow’s curd by 25 percent in one year. Among the foodstuffs, cooking oil is the only product whose price has decreased, on average to 86 percent of the level of last July.
According to the INS, medicines cost an average of 4.7 percent and fuel 8.6 percent less than in July 2022.
