Kaufland expands marketplace to France and Italy
The Kaufland online marketplace set to be launched in France and Italy from late summer 2025, the company announced.
The expansion will increase the number of potential online shoppers reached from 81 million to 140 million, an important step towards the retailer’s goal of becoming Europe’s largest online platform, Lebensmittelpraxis reports.
The expansion is based on Kaufland’s proprietary all-in-one solution, the “Kaufland Global Marketplace”, which allows merchants to sell on marketplaces internationally with one single registration.
The system automatically handles the translation of product data, local currency payment options and customer support.
The Kaufland marketplace achieved a 7.85 per cent growth in GMV in 2024, with the most successful categories being electronics and computer (24%), followed by gardening and DIY (20%). Best-selling products include mobile phones, TVs, tablets, robot vacuum cleaners and boxspring beds.
Kaufland’s online marketplace currently operates in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Poland.
With a range of around 45 million products in more than 6,400 categories, the German site is visited by up to 32 million visitors per month. In Austria, although the company has no physical stores, the marketplace is visited by nearly one million customers per month.
