Turnaround in the domestic potato market: production up, prices down
In 2024 the volume of domestic crop production was down 11%, but the quantity of potatoes grown increased by 3.7%, breaking the negative trend of recent years.

According to Dr Anikó Gerda, a consultant at Vitafer Hungária Kft., the results are encouraging. With production growing, prices lowered by 12.6% in 2024, which was an exceptional development. Potato’s price was below HUF 200/kg in 2018, but it has risen steadily since then and is now approaching HUF 400/kg despite the price drop. //
