Mayor’s Office: bottle holders in public areas are being tested
Public bottle holders are being tested, the aim of which is to allow the collection of reusable bottles separately from public waste – the Mayor’s Office told MTI.
According to the announcement, prototypes of the public bottle holders have been completed, and Budapest Public Utilities will place 20 of these in public areas frequented by public transport and tourism. Budapest Public Utilities will prepare a report on its operational experiences after 90 days.
“The new bottle return system has also presented new challenges to public sanitation,” they wrote.
The aim of the Budapest Public Utilities’ test project is twofold: by offering the option of separate collection of returnable bottles, it aims to reduce the burden on public waste collectors, and on the other hand, it aims to increase the amount of returnable waste collected, thereby promoting circular waste management
– the announcement states.
