Florists are busy, but many people also order chocolate and alcohol to their homes on February 14, according to foodora data. Most flowers are placed in virtual baskets in Budapest, in the XIII. district, where hyacinth and red rose bouquets are the favorites. The capital also leads in condom orders, with the most orders placed in the VII. and II. districts of the capital, but Hungarians also perform well internationally. Among the foodora countries, only the Swedes order more condoms on Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day also drives the home delivery market, with a clear spike in flower, chocolate and champagne orders, but it still fails to dethrone the cheeseburger – this dish is still the most ordered product among foodora users on February 14.

Looking at the annual data, there is a continuous expansion in the company’s fast-food sales. Fast and convenient home delivery is an attractive alternative for more and more products, with 38 percent more flowers and 39 percent more chocolate sold on the platform in the first week of February in foodora countries compared to the same period last year.

District 13 leads: the most flowers are sold here

Budapest leads in Valentine’s Day flower orders, with Szeged and Székesfehérvár in second and third place. The most active district was district 13, both in terms of quantities delivered and the number of flowers ordered. In the capital, hyacinth and rose bouquets were the most popular gifts in virtual baskets, while in the countryside, 1 red rose and a multi-colored rose bouquet were the most popular gifts.

Hungarians have a sweet tooth

Foodora users primarily like to pamper their taste buds, according to the latest survey. In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, chocolate orders increased by 76 percent compared to the average this year, while demand for intimate products was up by a conservative 17 percent. The Czechs are the region’s leaders, who don’t hold back, with demand for chocolate increasing by 164 percent and sexual aids by 47 percent.
