Important deadline for beekeepers
Applications for support can be submitted from January 27 for the call for proposals entitled “Animal welfare support in the beekeeping sector”, which aims to preserve the health of bee colonies and develop their ecosystem service capacity, announced on December 20, 2024 within the framework of the CAP Strategic Plan.
The importance of the beekeeping sector goes beyond itself, as honey can be imported, but not pollination. Due to the role of bees in pollination and the difficult situation of farmers who keep them due to the counterfeit honey flooding the EU agricultural markets, the Ministry of Agriculture seizes every opportunity to help the work of Hungarian beekeepers when planning the use of EU agricultural support. This call also serves this purpose.
The support will provide a non-refundable support of EUR 30 per bee colony per year to farmers who keep bees and meet the conditions and who, beyond the mandatory requirements specified in the legislation, voluntarily undertake to fulfill the obligation to leave 4 kilograms of honey per bee colony per year according to the conditions specified in the call. The duration of the program is five years, from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2029.
In order to prepare properly, the Ministry would like to draw your attention to the fact that the possibility of submitting support applications on the electronic interface of the Hungarian State Treasury will start on January 27, 2025 and end on March 13, 2025. The call and the related information materials and annexes can be found on the thematic website of the Ministry of Agriculture, at https://kap.gov.hu.
