The positive trend in grocery retail continues
Between February 2014 and January 2015 grocery stores’ sales neared HUF 1,480 billion – 5 percent more than in the base period. At the same time volume sales increased by 4 percent. From the top 10 grocery categories value sales grew above the average in the following: cheese – by 9 percent, carbonated soft drinks and mineral waters – by 6 percent each, fruit juice – by 12 percent, sour cream – by 9 percent. Volume sales growth in the top 10 categories: cheese – 5 percent, carbonated soft drinks – 6 percent, fruit juice – 7 percent. The biggest stores’ share in sales decreased by 2 percentage points (in value) to 27 percent, while the 400-2,500m² channel’s share grew by 2 percentage points to 38 percent.
