VAT-war goes on: OKSZ denies its responsibility
OKSZ (National Commercial Association) denies the assumption that they abuse producers' market strength when it comes to the VAT-rise. Hungarian food producers have made their complaints at the Commercial Competition Office.
OKSZ has issued a press release in which they have declared that the complaints lack any rational background. According to this press-release, in the majority of cases, producers themselves have tried to get in touch with merchants with the idea of lowering their prices, thus they have not forced any producer to do so. VAT on staples such as bread, grain, flour, milk and other dairy products will drop, however, from 20% to 18% as of July 1.
