This year marks the fifth anniversary of CETIN Hungary, Hungary’s first mobile telecommunications infrastructure provider. The company has so far invested more than HUF 102 billion in the development of its infrastructure, which also uses several artificial intelligence-based solutions, and plans to make further significant developments this year.

The independent, integrated telecommunications infrastructure provider CETIN Hungary Zrt. has successfully closed its fourth full business year. The company’s net sales revenue in 2024 was HUF 73.6 billion. With approximately 230 qualified employees, CETIN Hungary provides services to other telecommunications companies, as well as to businesses requiring complex telecommunications infrastructure solutions, in addition to its largest customer, Yettel Hungary.

Five years of development…

The separation of end-user services provided on mobile networks and the supporting infrastructure is a global trend. CETIN Hungary was the first in Hungary to do so: the company was established in July 2020, during the legal separation of Yettel Hungary (then Telenor Hungary). The company owns and operates one of the most significant telecommunications network infrastructures in Hungary: approximately 4,050 base stations nationwide, the entire transmission technology network connecting them, as well as the data centers, IT and security infrastructure providing the service.

In 2024, at the end of a four-year process, CETIN Hungary completed the modernization of its entire network infrastructure with a total investment of HUF 102.1 billion (HUF 22.9 billion last year). It modernized and almost completely replaced the radio equipment, antennas, power supply, transmission technology, and in many cases the passive infrastructure, i.e. towers and other supporting structures, with more modern ones.

With this, 5G technology was already operating on 23 percent of base stations by the end of 2024, and almost a quarter by the end of March this year. This means that the real 5G experience is available to more than half of Yettel’s customers.

This is also thanks to the fact that the services provided on Yettel’s mobile infrastructure – based on the CETIN network and services – achieved outstanding results. Having won the Ookla Speedtest Gold award, Yettel was the fastest mobile service provider in Hungary in the second half of 2024, comparing all technologies, as well as in terms of 4G-LTE and 5G. Similarly, according to measurements by szelessav.net operated by the National Media and Communications Authority, the service provider provided the fastest download and upload speeds on 4G and 5G.
