ALDI expands in US

Discounter is opening its 1000th discount store in the USA this week, in Connecticut.

The number of Aldi stores in Connecticut, which is
considered one of the most affluent US states, grew from four to 11 over
the past one and a half years. In total, Aldi wants to open 75 stores this
year, plus its first 25 outlets in Texas by spring 2010.
