Continuous monitoring of compliance with margin reduction
The goal is to keep food cheap for a long time, which is why consumer protection inspectors are constantly checking compliance with the margin reduction, said the head of the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office in a video posted on her Facebook page on Wednesday.
Sára Botond said: “We check compliance with the margin reduction every day.”
According to the mayor, consumer protection inspectors go to several places every day. They check that the difference between the purchase price and the selling price does not exceed 10 percent.
They request supporting documents every time to verify the purchase prices, it is not enough to just announce them, she added.
Wherever they find irregularities, they will definitely go back there. In fact, they will also go to the places where complaints are received. After all, our goal is for customers to be able to buy as cheaply as possible, Sára Botond emphasized.
