Basically, they got stronger: hair dye, lacquer and conditioner
The combined value share of the six hair care categories was 4 percent higher in January-April 2015 than in the first four months of 2014. In the 4-month period sales represented a HUF 9-billion value. Volume sales dropped in three categories and rose in three. Manufacturer brands’ share from value sales was 94 percent last year. Shampoo’s market valued at HUF 3 billion in the 4-month period, value sales grew 5 percent but volume sales were down 6 percent. Hair colorant sales amounted to more than HUF 2 billion, with value sales rising 4 percent and volume sales increasing by 10 percent (manufacturer brands’ share was 100 percent!). Hair fixing sales neared HUF 1 billion, value sales increased by 6 percent and volume sales expanded by 4 percent. Hair conditioner: the 4-month market was around HUF 1 billion, with 6-percent higher value and 4-percent bigger volume sales. Hair styling products were sold for about HUF 500 million but value sales took a 4-percent dive and volume sales plunged by 7 percent. Hair care products: value sales were up 8 percent and approached HUF 500 million, but volume sales took a 17-percent nosedive.
